After having pretty good success with the body lotion for this line, I decided to look into the body wash. I had been using Burt’s Bees’ Gud line to try and steer my way into a more natural based body wash but didn’t really like this particular wash at all. I have pretty dehydrated skin, and though my legs don’t dry out too often, I do have keratosis on my arms that I knew I needed to keep moisturized and felt like that moisturizing step needed to begin before putting on lotion. The Gud line didn’t provide that for me, so on to the next.

Like the lotion, this body wash worked really well for my body except for my chest and back. The body wash definitely did not strip my skin, it even helped to calm down my keratosis, but I just felt like it was aiding my chest and back breakouts. There were several times during this past summer where my air conditioning broke and lead to 3 day periods with no cooling system at work. Because of this, I didn’t want to smear on lotions or body butters that I would sweat off immediately so I didn’t apply anything on after my showers. When I did this, my body felt very comfortable, not dry, and my chest and back breakouts started to look better. I realized that with this product, at least for me, you can’t layer on anything else if it’s in an area that is prone to breakouts. I think that this body wash either leaves an unnoticeable layer of misturization or film that’s enough by itself in problem areas OR the body wash just doesn’t clean off any extra layers of moisture that  I have slathered on from the previous day leading to clogged pores. Not sure which one of it is, but I just steared clear of using this on my chest and back. I also noticed that it caused similar types of issues to my underarm areas. I didn’t get breakouts but I would start to smell WAY faster and sooner than I ever have before. I think it’s, again, because it either left some invisible and unoticeable film or it just focuses more on moisturizing, not deep cleansing, so any deoderant or bacteria was not washed away. (When I say unoticeable film, I mean you can’t feel something greasy or slimy. It doesn’t feel like anything’s SITTING on your skin, but your body still feels moisturized or comfortable. And though I mention that I don’t think this wash deep cleanses, I do feel like it does cleanse.)

The scent is obviously close to the lotion and I really enjoy it.  It looks almost like a pearly dark beige when squeezed out of the bottle and I think it’s wonderful if you don’t have problematic areas or don’t moisturize after showers. I even use it to shave and it works better than shaving creams that cause your skin to feel dry once they’re rinsed off. If anything, I can see myself buying this as a replacement for shaving creams. It is a bit pricier than other body washes, having cost me about 12 bucks, BUT this lasted me for at least 4-5 months (I can’t remember if I purchased it in May or June). I won’t be repurchasing at the moment only because I want the most simplistic body care routine and the fact that I had to use a different soap on my chest, back and underarms did not allow me to attain that personal goal.  I would definitely recommend trying it out, but just observe the areas that you tend to break out in if you are also putting lotion on after showers. In my book, this gets a 4/5.
